| I'll try to make this short as possible. Lately, i have been working on z32's locally for people what i think is a very cheap price. People only come to me from word of mouth at this point cause im not a buisness of any type. this is just a hobby i love doing. Of course the money helps me out also lol. Any time someone drops thier car off to me i tell them any price i tell them is strickly profit for me and they need to pay for any parts need. I do not have any discounts anywhere or know anyone crazy to get cheap parts so i tell them what they need and have them buy it. i send them to z1, specialty z, or here for simple used parts on the classified from bernie. i try to have them spend some time around the site cause this is where they could learn some things about thier car. I have a person who called me and dropped his car off to me to do a motor swap in a NA and make it 5spd. i told him i know someone with a motor and a 5spd swap and he wanted $850 for them both. I tell him to come to my garage and meet the kid with the 5spd swap and motor to pay him and see what hes buying and oil change and coolant. He comes and pays for everything. After cleaning the timing covers and switching his LW crank over and cleaning the motor up i realize the motor does not have new style injectors like i asked the kid specifically for. I have bought plenty of parts including other motors off this same person and never had a problem. so i call him tell him and he apologizes and doesnt have another motor and doesnt have the money so i tell him we can get the injector kit. he offers to go half on the injector kit which i did not think was reasonable but better then nothing. Now on to the problem:
my scummy landlord did not put any fire alarms into my unit. fire marshall randomly showed up and told us i cannot be there until it is done. long story short with that is landlord figures out july 1st as a date i can come back in. customer dropped his car off for 1 week at this point as im waiting for the injector kit in the mail. I call the customer tell him the situation and he tells me he needs car done by then end of the week! I take it upon myself to tow his car to a friends garage to finish the work. i later call the customer cause he bought oem belts for the LW pully which they are way too large. he says ok and wants to come get the belts to go return them. i explain to him where the car is and that i had it towed so i can finish the car for him in correct time cause hes going away and claims to need it by then. he replys with getting the police involved and saying he doesn't think the job is going to get done right. should i not have towed the car to finish it? I thought i was doing the correct thing in the situation. I am not worried if he calls the cops or anything but alot of people come to me by word of mouth and i think he is blowing things out of proportion. at this point the quote was $500 for me to do the labor he buys everything needed. I am now paying out 120 for the injector kit cause kid wont answer phone. 80$ for tow(my fault so i would never ask for it) 40$ for tranny fluid, 5$ for brake fluid, 40$ for new o-rings which had to be 2day air so his car could get done. also new gaskets for exaust which i am going to buy today from dealership which hopefully in stock.(45$ most likely), 20$ for new clamps and 10$ for fuel line and vacumm line... these are all things he agreed would pay for cause it was all needed for the car to be done right... now he does not want to pay anything cause i moved his car without tell him first. should i tell him to just give me the $500 and take my loses on everything? remind you this is not a job that would normally get done in 2 weeks when waiting for parts, cleaning parts, and having a full time job along with a moody girlfriend! $500 is a very very cheap price for labor involved. I explain to everyone that i do not rush things and i work full time so i cannot have a car in and out over night sort of speak. sorry for the long post.
